Groups

At Redeemer East Side, we believe that we were created to be together—to enjoy one another, to share a common purpose, and to love genuinely. Because of the good news of Jesus Christ, this kind of community is available to us here and now. God welcomes us into his family, and we invite you to experience the power of God’s family through the many ways we can be together here at RES.

Three Primary Pathways for Community at RES

Community Groups (CGs)

These are small groups of 6-12 people who meet for worship, Bible study, fellowship, and prayer.

Affinity Groups

Our 50+, Young Adults, Women’s, and Men’s ministries host social and discipleship events throughout the year.

Collectives

Collectives are hobby or interest-based groups that meet for community and enjoyment.

Community Groups

The primary way we facilitate deep connection is through Community Groups. These groups meet for worship, Bible study, fellowship, and prayer. Many groups operate on a 3:1 rhythm where they meet in someone’s home, virtually, or at Redeemer three times a month, then once a month they participate in a service project together or host a social event. The purpose of our community groups is to cultivate a vibrant gospel community where people find belonging, experience transformation, and are equipped to serve God and others. Groups consist of 6-12 people and are led by trained leaders from our congregation who receive oversight and support from our pastoral staff.

With more than 50 groups meeting throughout the week both in-person and online, there’s a place for you here.

Interested in Leading a Group?

We’re so glad you’re interested! Community Group and Collective leaders should be members (or on the path toward membership) of Redeemer East Side who exhibit a passion for God, a compassion for people, and a teachable spirit. While prior experience in leading a small group is helpful, it is not a prerequisite.

As a leader, you aren’t expected to have all the answers. Your job is to facilitate discussion and foster authentic connections. Leaders create a space where people feel safe to share their lives with one another. Through regular training and check-ins with a member of our Community Life Team, we will make sure you feel comfortable and equipped to lead. If you’re interested in learning more, please speak with our Associate Director of Community Groups, Kyle Chen, or fill out this interest form.
