Serve Our City
In the parable of the Good Samaritan, an expert in the law asked Jesus who is considered his neighbor. Instead of answering this question, Jesus tells a story that, among other things, shows what it means to be a neighbor no matter where we find ourselves. We live, work, and love in many places around the city, and God is active in each of them.
Hope for New York
We partner with Hope For New York (HFNY) to act out God’s mercy and justice in our city. HFNY provides funding, training and resources to non-profit partners so that all New Yorkers can experience spiritual, social, and economic flourishing. Through HFNY, we partner with their amazing affiliates, but specifically focus on the following six:
Safe Families: Safe Families for Children creates extended family-like support for families in crisis through a community of compassionate volunteers.
The Open Door: The Open Door empowers immigrants to reach their full God-given potential to successfully integrate, participate and contribute to the well-being of our society.
Bowery Mission: The Bowery Mission meets the needs of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness through hot meals, safe overnight shelter, faith-based Residential Programs, and more.
Avail: Avail provides free, confidential care and resources for men and women making a decision about an unexpected pregnancy or seeking support after an abortion experience.
YoungLife: Young Life is a non-denominational Christian ministry that reaches out to adolescents. Volunteers develop sincere friendships with teenagers and help provide them with weekly events to learn the skills, assets, and attitudes that will help them reach their God-given potential in life.
Dream Center: Dream Center exists to partner with local communities through programs designed around identity, empowerment, purpose, and neighborhood engagement in order to see neighborhoods flourish across New York City.
Service Collectives
We have two service collectives that meet on a weekly or monthly basis to serve our neighborhood.
The Isaacs/Holmes Collective meets on every third Saturday to build relationships with our neighbors at the Isaacs Houses and Holmes Towers by serving food and supplies. Fill out this form to learn more about getting involved!
The Wagner Houses Collective meets every Friday afternoon to deliver food and pray for our neighbors at the Wagner Houses. Redeemer East Side has a vibrant ministry with nine families, and we are seeking to expand that service opportunity to even more. Fill out this form to learn more about getting involved. For the sake of consistency, we encourage you to commit to visit the same families each week or twice a month if your schedule allows.
